ABOUT ANT COX

Quick Bio

I am Anthony Cox, Ant for short, and between travelling around Europe and North America over the past ten years I have completed Bachelors in Journalism, Literature and Fine Arts at Griffith University. I have been blogging since the late 90’s, and was a long time user of Livejournal. I have dabbled a bit here and there, Blogger, WordPress and the like, until finally coming to the conclusion I should incorporate my personal blog into my online portfolio.

I am a writer, a photographer, and a visual artist, currently living in Brisbane, Queensland Australia. My writing has appeared in magazines, newspapers, and online newsletters. My photography has been featured on travel sites, and in magazine advertising.

About me

Writing is my passion, beginning with short stories written as a child, I have used my academic career to explore all manner of storytelling, over as many mediums as possible from print media, to video and web. My goal is to make a living as a wordsmith – a writer, visual artist, and photographer.

Why I write

Just like the essay by George Orwell published in 1946, the question as to “why I write” isn’t really a question at all. I have always known I wanted to be a writer. Written language may very well be our greatest achievement, without it there would be no Shakespeare, no theory of relativity, no democracy, no real advancement. My writing comes from inside my head. If I couldn’t write, it would feel the same as losing a limb. Good writing isn’t easy, but I try to write well and hope that people enjoy it.
